I do light edits to my footage. No special effects. Can this render 4K videos no problem? Anyone own the base M2 and use Lumafusion or iMovie for 4K edits? Or do I absolutely need the 16gb memory. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I had an M1 air 8gb and didn’t have a single issue editing in 4k (fuji xt4 and iphone files). But for that price you might as well consider the 14" M1 Pro (better screen, more powerful, more storage/ram, more ports, better speakers and more external screens supported).

Hey there, thanks for the reply. The MBP is 2100$ starting price here in Canada. So a 600$ difference. Might just stick with the 16gb ram m2 air.

      Appreciate the advice

You can get a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro for thos $1450, and it’s a better and faster chip than M2. (And the MacBook Pro base is with 16Gb and 512SSD)
