I’d like to one day know the truth of whether the Panthers chose to hire a head coach Frank Reich who has coached quarterbacks with prototypical NFL QB height, only to disregard his wishes to draft CJ Stroud in favor of a quarterback who is Michael Vick’s height without Michael Vick’s insane athleticism.

I heard a freakonomics podcast about the 49ers rebuild, and one thing I always remember from it is this. There is no penalty for being bad in the NFL. In something like the premier league, relegation exists. In the NFL, the penalty for being the worst team is the ability to draft the best player available coming out of college (except for the Panthers lol). That mixed with revenue sharing, in a league that posts growth year over year, buying an NFL franchise is just an asset that continues to appreciate no matter how bad you are. I don’t know what it is that motivates some owners to want to win, but when it comes to the numbers all 32 are constant winners. I hope Tepper actually wants to win, because every fanbase deserves that.
