I might be out of the loop, but isn’t this a Zelda type of game not a metroid type of game?
The devs label it as a metroidvania, and a lot of reviews mention it as a Zelda-like, but people who’ve played it say it straddles an already thin line between the genres.
What qualities is that? Back tracking?
As far as I’m aware the defining quality of a Metroidvania is backtracking and unlocking new branches/offshoots/areas of previous zones as you unlock new movement abilities. Which is why Control almost qualifies as a Metroidvania. No idea about this game though.
I’d add that some people delineate between the two with the idea that Zelda-likes have dungeons and metroidvanias don’t.
