I think he’s get a 15% bonus on the surplus and he’s been known to be seen at the Burlington Coat Factory.

This Jaylon Johnson talk has gotten crazy. Folks are acting like he is the next Deon Sanders or Champ Bailey. My man has missed 1/3 of his games iin 2022, 25% of his games this season. He balled out against LV, but has only been above average otherwise. He allowed a TD in the Chargers game.

I’m not saying I want him to go to another team, or even be traded, but folks are acting like we should issue a blank check in $ and years to a guy who is an above average CB, but not the best.

He’s giving mid LBs $18M/year. JJ is the best player on this defense and at some point you gotta start retaining your best players. Getting rid of Mack and Quinn made sense, getting rid of your best players when they’re 25 doesn’t

Honestly I think a lot of it is because the McCaskeys don’t want to spend anything. Especially now that they’re trying to get a new stadium and will likely be forced to cough up something for it.

Or he believes that he can get free agents to sign by massively overpaying them.

Because he isn’t a competent NFL GM. Letting high-quality players like Smith, Daniels, and probably Johnson walk, trading the 32nd pick for Claypool, and drafting an old incompetent WR in Jones.

You can’t be hoarding something if you don’t have it yet. That is the cap space for next year, which means he will have that to spend in the off season on extensions and free agents

The fact that poles will have spent 3 premium draft picks on DBs in his first two drafts all while letting his best DB walk is kinda insane

He’s trying to sign long term players, and wants to be capable of doing that if they’re available. Unfortunately, FA last year wasn’t great and mediocre players always want the bank. I respect his patience to not sign “meh” players to big deals, but as a fan it’s hard to sit and see all that space and not see a lot of splashes as a result. I just hope he’s not being too stingy or picky. If guys feel he is, it could hurt players from wanting to stay and come to Chicago. Based on his signings in fa last year, I think he’s on the right track, but we’ve waited a long time for a winning product, and waiting longer is not something anyone wants to do.
