Three months after Australia’s social media restrictions for people under age 16 came into force, teenagers are circumventing the blocks with virtual private networks and by tricking age verification services, according to the country’s digital regulator.
So as expected, instead of taking control of the issue, the law just created an unregulated shadow market.
it was already unregulated. now less people have access to that unregulated market. so this is still a win
The economic and societal impact for everybody is not a win
The extreme privacy invasion and uploading of your photo ID to agencies all over the world with their own nefarious purposes is not a win
what privacy? lol. what a laugh thinking social media respected kids privacy! you think social media and agencies didnt already have the kids photos? they have copies and history of everything the kids type and looked at. also kods wont upload thier id if they are too young cause they would be denied. these internet companies already do nefarious stuff. this is just stopping kids from giving these companies more of thier details.
dont wanna give them your id? dont use thier service, cause they already usng all your info. so more privacy for you!

nah. its more like there is a fence around a toxic pit. but if you have the skills or knowledge you can climb the tree to get over the fence
Good, young people are learning how internet works under the hood.
