BUDAPEST, March 5 (Reuters) - Hungary will force neighbouring Ukraine with “political and financial tools” to reopen the key Druzhba pipeline carrying Russian oil to Hungarian refineries, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on ‌Thursday.

this isn’t UA’s fault. it’s Russia’s, and it’s yours, Orban. i hope the opposition makes that abundantly clear

it’s utter madness, but i suppose he’s just a cynical liar caught in his own rhetoric with no way out.

hopefully time is up for him and Hungary can get a chance at some justice and real improvement.

Hungary has parliamentary elections in six weeks. Right now his party controls parliament, but polls show the other party is likely to win. He’s trying to preserve his control over the country.

I’d like that, would likely do the whole of Hungary a lot of good

You answered your own question with your statement. They are in GOP territory now with the cognitive dissonance

        He has no other choice.

Putin has made it clear to him that the photos they have of Orbán having an intercourse with an underage girl will be made public unless Orbán obeys.

Fyi Russia destroyed it and when Ukraine tried to repair it, russia killed the workers during the repair. So maybe hungary should talk to someone else about the issue

Yeah just let putin’s lapdogs snoop around your strategic infrastructure while you’re at war, no biggie

Even if (big if) they want to fix it, are they paying? lol

If russia strikes the same spot again and hungarian crews die, would you want to be known as the one who sent them there? And would it really be worth it? A country at peace losing supposedly highly skilled civvies for a bunch of gas that financed their (and ukrainian) deaths doesn’t sound great on a resume.

edit: repairing it would also be a political win for Orban and he’s gonna repay by blocking help from EU as always, so it’s probably better to wait

Hungary (with Slovakia) also wanted to send their crews for inspection but uhh… you don’t really want someone from a country like that poking around your infrastructure while you’re at war so that proposal (understandably) got denied

With this, Hungary is actively participating in a war crime. They have cut emergency electrical power amidst ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. The other EU countries should capture and imprison him, as this constitutes an act of agression against an ally and a violation of human rights. Additionally they broke EU contracts, by lying about agreeing and then blocking it anyway.

“There will be no compromise whatsoever. We will defeat them, we will wrestle down the oil blockade and we will force the Ukrainians to resume shipments,” Orban said.

What exactly does he mean? The article doesn’t suggest a single thing.

He has no plan. He’s just saying these words, hoping that somehow that might gain him votes.

Hmmm. Hey Ukraine. Any way to pump kyivs sewage through that pipeline? Just thinking it might be a better home for it.

Ukraine needs to repair the pipe asap. Then redirect sewage water of the whole country to Orban. POS hope that asswipe leaves us soon.
