This show proves you can still “shoot” a show properly. Not the scattershot “throw everything at the wall” technique of kids at film school seemingly running trek these days.

"The prolific producer confirmed that Hulu would be ready to move forward on the new season, but his own packed schedule has made it challenging to find time for him to shoot. “The 10 scripts are done,” MacFarlane continues. “I’m the problem. It’s [a matter of] when I can make that my year, with all the other stuff we have in the works. But we can hit the ground running when it happens.”.

The Orville is some of the best scifi of all time. The guy who made family guy also making this is shocking but I’m so glad for it. The man can’t give an inspiring speech to save his life and a lot of the character moments are pretty flat but that is all the critique I can give. The rest of the show is such a perfect balance of making high concept scifi grounded and real, making it weighty without being bleak or too glib, making it real to life without being preachy. Outstanding show.

For when you want new episodes of old-school Star Trek, this is the only source. More Rob Lowe episodes, please.

STA copied the whole “artificial lifeforms cut off from humans sending envoy to see if humans will be friend” idea. Orville did it better.

I know I’m in the minority but I strongly dislike this show its messages and themes are just half arsed they are less progressive and less interested in truly trying to present moral dilemma’s and messages then Trek was in the 90’s.

If you were in the minority it wouldn’t have been cancelled the first time lol

The thing with Orville is that there are are a lot of very online insecure men who all LARPed that it was amazing because they were upset with the Black Lady show.

It’s not a bad show it’s just hard to gauge the actual real world authentic audience reception.

Are you referring to The Orville? It has never been canceled.

The huge gaps between seasons 2 and 3 was caused by COVID, and this one seems to be about how expensive the last season was.

And, yes, coming into a community about a specific thing to say that you don’t like specific thing does put you in the minority (and in less tolerate communities would get you dogpiled or banned).

Look, I watched the hell out of Discovery despite the terrible dialogue writing, because I liked the characters and many of the sci-fi ideas. I liked the first 2 seasons of the Orville more, because it gave me the idealistic progressivism I sometimes crave and rarely get on tv or in films.
