Despot uses religious idiots as base to rise to power, then throws them under the bus once power is secured. Predictable, if the idiots would have studied history. Hard to feel sorry for them .I will spend my time feeling badly for the educated world that has to suffer living with them.

In the end I imagine it’s fewer than I’d like to hope. Just chisel at the sides of support until you have the fanatics and the rest wonder why their faces were eaten by leopards. Again the bit ‘first they came for the…’. We are all a ‘they’ unless you’re as fanatical as them, no matter how close your ideals may be.

Nothing in there says the President can’t have protestors shot, the press arrested, and religions taxed. It’s legal as long as Congress doesn’t create a law permitting it.

My initial reaction was also “I 100% approve of this” but we shouldn’t forget that he will only go after churches that are actually doing something useful, like collecting clothes and donations for the poor, as the people running those churches are generally opposed to trump. Don’t think those evangelical maga-preaching megachurches, which are much more problematic, will ever be targeted by him.
