Given how friendly the current Ontario government is to landlords, I don’t see it being legislated. That being said, I think it’s gotten harder for LLs to refuse a tenant paying to have one installed themselves.

If they have to provide heat during the winter, why shouldn’t they also have to provide cooling during the summer? Legit question. Also, there should be maximum and minimum temperature laws, as in, during the month of May, which many municipalities mandate apartment buildings must still have their furnace turned on, there should be a maximum temperature regulation. Currently there is none. So during May, if there’s a heatwave, there is no law saying your landlord can’t have the furnace blasting raising the temp to 35 degrees.
