      Yeah. I don’t know why anyone would be surprised by this. It’s crazy that they’re actually paying $700 for what amounts to a shitty bedroom and they can’t even lock the door or anything because there are no doors. This housing crisis thing is crazy.

          Hostels are similar as well. But they’re not intended to be a permanent dwelling. The point is the housing crisis is so bad in this area and other areas like it that somehow this is the best these people can do to survive.

    Bit misleading - they were made in a place that doesn’t have a residential building permit. They’re not “not up to code” in the way that the headline makes out.

    The department said the pods, situated in Mint Plaza, were illegally installed without a residential building permit.
