Yeah he’s been going on about this for years, they’re super determined to make Roblox into an “All Ages” platform with things like public voice chat and 17+ “experiences” but they completely neglect that the vast majority of their user base is barely even old enough to speak.

To make matters worse, as far as I’m aware there’s no actual age verification other than just inputting your date of birth so most of those kids barely old enough to speak frequently access features like public voice chat

Isn’t Roblox basically just a roundabout gambling platform that exploits unpaid child labor?

Well you know capitalism seems to ruin everything eventually.

There are definitely some independent developers on there just trying to make games and/or get some dev experience (and from what I’ve even told Roblox is a great way to get started) but yeah there’s no shortage of labor exploitation in the larger development studios (Conveniently a lot of the same ones Roblox Corp likes to partner with for on-site events)

And as for child gambling: yeah

Roblox, a game for pedos and unpaid child labor.

Why haven’t governments outside of US restricted access to Roblox?

It sucks to be a kid whose favorite game is Roblox. At the same time though…maybe other alternatives like Minecraft and VoxeLibre is better as they’re decentralized and more likely to be better moderated (in comparison to Roblox anyways as Roblox is infamous for their numerous poorly made decisions).

    Edit:

That’s not concerning at all… fucking hell, wasn’t there a report saying there was predators in that game?

Why would adults use a kids game ( my understanding of roblox) as a dating site?

The phrase you’re looking for is “X-rated pedophile hellscape”.

Back when my kids were into Roblox they’d go on there with their friends for the express purpose of finding and reporting pedos.

Yet another CEO out of touch with the user base of his platform. Mr. Baszucki, 30 year old uncles have been using Roblox for… “age-gap fantasies” since day one.

He probably thinks this will keep people from ageing out of the game.

I doubt that is how it will work, though.

    Good luck competing with VRChat

Through movie screenings, concerts, and mixers, all hosted in the virtual space, adults can get to know one another on a more intimate level. To Baszucki, it’s a solution to a modern problem, a “loneliness epidemic” as he called it.

No. It is NOT a solution, it’s another monetization of loneliness

can I assume that he meant that as it’s userbase of 12 to 14 years old age into adults they could use Roblox to meet partners, instead of introducing hookups to what is basiclly a children’s app?

not going to defend them, it just the story makes little sense. and that interpretation makes a bit more sense.

I’ve been watching my grandkids play on Roblox all week. I have absolutely no interest.
