Sweden has gang-related bombings? Does anybody have background info about how this came to be a thing?
Searching for more info is producing results that I’m skeptical of because they seem sensationalized.
The bombs are quite small, and it is drug dealing gang vs gang, which is why mostly normal people are not affected and don’t really care. It makes for sensational news reports though so the xenophobes get wound up.
Don’t care? I fucking care if cuntheads place bombs someplace every night. The media cares. The politicians care. Seem to me like it’s you who don’t care.
If the politicians wanted to stop this they would go after the drug consumers as well because that would stop the drug gangs income. Unfortunately the drug consumers are the people who vote and the politicians kids … so nobody cares

Well a war on drugs would be consistent but even more stupid.
With how recklessly, callously, criminally, narcissistic the right are, there’s a reasonable chance they’re involved with some of them.
Most people are unaware Putin likely orchestrated domestic terrorist attacks to consolidate power.
As far as I understand it’s the relic from Yugoslav wars/Kosovo war. A lot of the weapons after wars came with Serbs. And combined that with prior migrant worker migration there a sizable population of Serbs in Sweden. Grenades seems to be their weapon of choice.
I also think a part of it was that grenades were not classified as the same thing as a firearm. So there were circumstanses where it was forbidden to have a gun, but a grenade was fine. That kept them in circulation.
Any weapon not classified in a specific category goes under Knivlagen (Knifelaw). This also includes home made alchemical spray weapons and such.
Wouldn’t that plug any loophole for grenades?

interesting i was under the impression that it was other immigrants involved. genuinely the first time i heard this had something to do with ex-yugoslavia. that was an issue in netherlands too 15 years ago, not sure now. albanian gangsters seem to be the new big bad in other parts of europe as well
