Most of the characters are clickable: you can find out what kind of character and follow the link to the source. Non-clickable characters are fictional.
That’s pretty neat. I don’t think a lot of westerners are necessarily going to get these though I don’t think “Totally Spies” or “Wunsch Punch” were popular 90s cartoons in the west (Def not the UK at least)
Edit: Nevermind just realized there’s English annotations for each character! Very cool!
I am a millennial and I know many people who knew Totally Spies in the US.
Totally spies isn’t a western cartoon?!
I’m sure it is but I’ve never heard anyone speak of it outside of Canada and eastern Europe
It was on in Norway, one of the good shows. Along with Powerpuff Girls, Kids Next Door, Kim Possible, Lilo & Stitch, Dexter, etc.
That’s nice! I loved all those too, though I didn’t get to seem them as much as they were on cartoon network, not Jetix, and only my grandma’s house had CN.
Travel more 😁
I have been all over the western world since I was a kid and lived in big multicultural cities all my adult life and I have never once encountered a non-Russian or a non-Ukranian who knew about a cartoon like Totally Spies or anything of that sort. The fact this website is clearly made by a Russian-speaker reinforces this further.
Of all the people I knew - British, German, Spanish, Italian, Americans from Texas to Boston, Irish, Scottish, Chinese, Bulgarian, Romanian, Latvian, Estonian, Armenian, Polish, Ethiopian or from the UAE - you ask Zillenials what cartoons they remember from their childhood - they all know the cartoon network shows like Dexter and Nickelodeon like Spongebob, but not the Jetix shows.
Me saying Eastern Europe was somewhat charitable actually, I only assume it’s the case. I also knew 1 Quebecois Canadian who knew of them, but also not sure tbh.
Pretty condescending though. Blocked.
Touchy, touchy. The condescension was all your head, buddy.
It was produced in France, but it actually premiered in the USA first by almost half a year!
And there’s loads of references to western media too.
Plus they’re gonna discover the Wunschpunsch theme song which is a certified banger intro amongst the greats of the 90s kids cartoons
