I make these at home now because taco bell Canada removed them from the menu.

I can make four 12" Mexican pizzas, twice as thick, not risk getting e-coli/listeria, for about $5 CAD.

        Warm oven.

Lightly fry tortillas in pan for about 15 -30 seconds (score them so they don’t poof up)

Open refried beans. (Add taco seasoning if you want [you can make that super cheap, too!])

        Grate cheese.

        Mince some onion.

Pick a few cherry tomatoes, jalapeño, cut cilantro, chives and green onion from plants.

Blend a few of the above with some vinegar, sugar, salt and lemon juice. Heat in pan or pot for a bit. A zingy salsa /sauce.

        Put things on tortilla.

        Put another tortilla on top.

Sauce it and cheese it and garnish it.

        Put in oven.

        Take out of oven.

        Put in mouth.

        Enjoy.

        **addendum

I haven’t made them in a while and I don’t normally take pics of my food so this is old and blurry

$6 for this garbage. Taco Bell used to be a decent guilty pleasure but it’s become expensive trash now.

Nah, it was always trash. Just inexpensive. Now it’s just expensive trash.

Back in the 90s before the meat fillers, it was different. I used to dine there quite a bit. Modern variations pale in comparison.

I’m not simping for a brand. But I want to add that you can use their app to get their garbage, and get a decent amount of it, cheap still. (Online exclusives, then it’s like a box. I don’t remember the name.) Less than $10 and I’m full.

(This post brought to you by, I’m on a medication that makes eating really difficult, but sometimes I can tolerate Taco Bell and when the ability to eat happens I usually have just a few short minutes to procure and start eating before the moment passes. Which is why I’ve been sitting next to a bowl of my favorite pasta for two hours and have had to reheat it twice. T_T )

I still can’t replicate a chalupa well enough. Homemade quesaritos don’t entirely scratch the itch, but they’re pretty good.

But they aren’t cheap any more.

Chicken chalupa supremes. But man, it’s still a crap shoot on if the shells are gonna be warm and toasty, or cold and chewy. I’ve yet found a Taco Bell that is consistent.

On a road trip I stopped at a Taco Bell for bean burritos for something easy to eat. Two bean burritos for $8. They used to be less than a $1 each.

We got them for free from the app once. I was so disappointed I asked for a refund.

You didn’t imagine it. They were discontinued and came back. I remember there being different varieties of Mexican pizza now, too, but I only see classic and veggie. Maybe I’m mixing it up with the crunch wrap.

Oh God I miss the crunch wrap …all the crunch but none of the mess. We should make our own Taco Bell that’s better with hoofjiack and blackers…

(I meant black jack and hookers but It felt you should see that window into my not awake yet mind)

Ordering pizza from taco bell is like ordering fries at a sushi place. You deserve whatever you get.

Okay but no joke some of the best fries in my area are from teriyaki places. They know how to fry food well and the fries aren’t ordered enough to be hot held so they’re always cooked on ordering

I legitimately love the Mexican pizza. Yes, sometimes it do be looking like that. But sometimes, it’s beautiful and perfectly cut without cracking.
