Of course they do. They only exist in the first place to deflect from corporate responsibility for climate change.
Yup. Just a friendly reminder that just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions.
Y’all some cynical mofos. Y’know, for good reason.
Adding this to my list of why straw bans are and always have been pointless yet ableist bullshit designed to make people feel like they contributed, which they did, to another distraction from and by the source of the problem.
Edit: from dumpster fire that are the comments to this over on lemmy.world it’s obvious that reality doesn’t matter, people will still just endorse whatever requires least effort from them to get a pat on the back, no matter how insignificant or even harmful what they’re doing is. This topic never fails to get my blood boiling (mostly because it’s such a ridiculous and useless thing to cling on to , but it’s like people relish the opportunity to take more away from disabled people).
Is that why I Pee so FASt?
But hey they are eco friendly :3
#sarcasm!!!
They can be, but consumers don’t like the texture of those that haven’t been treated with pfas and so they complain. Businesses will provide what gives them the least headache
It was sarcastic
I know. I was pointing out that while the sarcasm is largely warranted, there are cases where the straws actually are environmentally friendly
I now need to use 4 paper straws for a drink rather than one plastic one because they go squishy. I’m not sure that’s any better.
