Good to see. The way drivers had to rejoin the track was really strange. Not to mention dangerous.

This really should have been sorted way before any cars hit the track on Friday. Seeing cars driving head on towards other cars and rejoining the track so slowly and at a 90° angle? Yeah that seems fine…

The type of crash the barrier was extended to prevent is still possible, maybe they can build a safe rejoining lane by next year to get the best of both worlds.

with Lewis Hamilton apparently pointing out that he’d never seen a car have the type of accident that the barrier extension was designed to prevent.

Sure, it’s not like there have been freak accidents in motorsport that killed people. If some day it does happen, everyone is blaming the FIA for not preventing it.

Concerns are fine and perhaps the wall is bad, but this comment is ridiculous.

I agree. Just because you have not seen it doesn’t mean it can’t (or won’t) happen.

At least the drivers can stay off the grass now. IMO it was fine how it was before and has always just been a part of the circuit that if you go deep in T1 you cut to T2 exit 🤷

Thank goodness. I can see why they wanted the extension, but it wasn’t the best execution, like taking one step forward and three steps back with cars rejoining the track against head-on traffic.

This decision may have been premature in my opinion. It was a new change and the teams had to navigate it wet conditions on top of that, so I can understand the frustration. It may be back. Running this track in Assetto Corsa for over 220 laps, Turn 1 was always dangerous and needed to be fixed.
