    Just 24 quid a month, that’s a steal!

Of all magazines and journals I have come across, Nature is one where paying for a subscription is actually worth it if you have an interest in science. Many magazines (e.g. The Economist) charge £20/month for a single publication; with nature you get access to their whole library of peer-reviewed articles for around the same price.

People here are against online advertising (rightly so) but it’s bizarre that they also complain when an organization tries to support itself with subscriptions. What do you expect them to do?

My gripe with people posting links to paywalled websites is an assumption I must be subscribed to that source already. Or that I’m willing to subscribe on the spot just to read the article.

Regarding ads vs per website subscription, in an ideal world we’d have some kind of Spotify for magazines, but it ain’t happening so I might as well just accept the ads and read the article. Beats just looking at the paywall in frustration.
