Genuinely a good whodunit in a space opera setting.

The procedure changes for the following two books (I’m on 3 of 6, so I can’t yet speak on the back half), but the overall theme of mystery twists revealed throughout the plot leading into the climax seems to hold.

Is it those book series that continue the mystery throughout the series, or does each book conclude the active mystery? Basically, is it like Sherlock or like modern tv series?

Kind of both. There are specific stories in each book, but there is an overarching theme that the whole series brings to light. Each stand well enough on their own, but the overall theme is better appreciated when read in order. The second 3 books in particular have stronger ties and are very much a trilogy.

Oh, that’s good. I always plan on reading the whole series, but you know how life goes sometimes. So, I like that each book holds its own.

Each book has a compartmentalized story that concludes. Book 2 occurs a good number of decades after Book 1. Book 3 occurs at more-or-less the same time as Book 2, but elsewhere.

There are 3 more books I haven’t started, but so far I haven’t even had a character repeat across books: very disconnected.
